COVID 19 small 1

(Haga clic para la traducción al español.)

Dear Supporters,

For the victims we serve, home is not always a safe shelter.  COVID-19 has increased barriers for victims fleeing abuse and seeking resources for a new beginning.  This epidemic has caused swift changes in the way we operate, but as an essential business, Hope’s Door New Beginning Center (HDNBC) is open, taking new clients, and providing services.  HDNBC is following guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and our local health departments across all locations and services.

HELP CONTINUES TO BE AVAILABLE 24/7 - As always, our Hotline is available 24/7 in English and in Spanish to talk through safety planning, services, and resources. Call us anytime at 972-276-0057Emergency shelter services continue with the utmost care and concern for the safety of victims and our staff.

SERVICES ARE VIRTUAL - All victim services that are normally offered face-to-face will be offered via phone and virtual access.  BIPP groups are being conducted by video calls.  Project Hope classes have been temporarily suspended. In-person groups across all programs have been suspended.  Updates to current clients are ongoing.  HDNBC is developing plans for a phased opening beginning across locations starting June 1.

VOLUNTEERS - To limit exposure, all volunteer activities are currently postponed until further notice. Volunteers play a vital role in our delivery of services by bringing donations, preparing food for shelter residents, and supporting work across programs. You can make a monetary donation here to help us meet the gap left by volunteers. If you would like to order a meal for shelter, have a donation of cleaning supplies or hand sanitizer, please contact Beth Leos at This email address is being protected from spambots. Domestic abuse is a human rights issue that affects thousands of people in our community regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, socio-economic level, religious affiliation or culture.

Prevalence of Domestic Abuse in Texas
At Hope's Door New Beginning Center, we help individuals and families escape and heal from domestic abuse, dating abuse and family violence through our free trauma-informed services. Our community educators enhance the community’s capacity to recognize and respond to abuse through free educational programming to schools and organizations, while our certified BIPP facilitators help individuals who have exhibited controlling or abusive behaviors in the past achieve healthy and non-violent conflict resolution skills.

If you are or think you might be in an abusive relationship, know that you are not alone, it is not your fault, and help is available.
